CSH phases in technical products

CSH phases

Concrete and steam cured construction materials (sand lime bricks, aircrete, fibre reinforced concrete, CSH insulation material) are the most important group of materials, which are made up by CSH phases as an essential constituent. In concrete and mortars the CSH phases are none or semi-crystalline, i.e. CSH gel and C-S-H(I). The steam cured (autoclaved) materials consist of semi-crystalline and crystalline CSH phases, in most cases C-S-H(I) and tobermorite.
Phases like gyrolite, α-C2SH and xonotlite may occur as minor constituents in steam cured products. Only xonotlite can be found as industrial product, besides construction materials it is used as white pigment or aggregate for special purpose.
